Dishes...*

I am unreasonably excited about having a complete home again. To be able to walk through the dining room and guest room for the first time in months is on par with a child's first trip to Disneyland. The discovery of standing walls and a floor is wondrous! The lack of drywall dust in the air makes breathing an orgasmically joyful experience. The absence of sawdust on the dog is cause for a prayer of thanksgiving! I have walked through the valley of the shadow of neverending construction and am emerging scarred, but into a brighter, cleaner, more usable home. Just a few more weeks and I will be able to use the new bathroom, sleep in the new bedroom, and be able to cook (sob!) in the kitchen.
I will celebrate the completion of this seemingly Sisyphean project as if it were the birth of my first child!

I hope your anomie survives the new comfort. I'm impressed with your writing and would hate to come back and find you've changed your screen-name to "rosehip"
Your excitement is not unreasonable. Katie was going nuts when I finally finished fixing the drain trap in the bathtub so she could take baths again. Last night she was jumping up and down in joy when I finally fixed the lightbulb socket on the garage door opener as well. Never underestimate the power of a small fix.
So is this a total remodel you're having done at your house or something? Or was in involuntary, like a redo after a fire? That's a long time...going since April.
ok, hello, i understand that self-promotion is bad, and that this may anger you, but i just cant resist the temptation of inviting a fellow blogger over to my page to check out one little thingie;-) you're welcome to stop by. thanks in advance:-)))
I love that song!
how wonderful.
and a full working kitchen...what will your first meal you make be?

Wow. I read your earlier post on the construction sounds like it was hell congrats.
Did you just get spammed by "Maggie?"
And I haven't been following your blog long enough to know whether you are building a house as you live in it or not. Congrats on the progress. I start projects all the time and NEVER finish any of them. I get bored. But a kitchen is kind of essential.
As a survivor (I think) of home renovation - enjoy the new splendor. Came here by way of that dog up top.
sadly, i confess to having all those handy kitchen items already, and *still* prefer to survive on restaurant fare (oh, to have friends...). fortunately, my husband doesn't seem to mind, so i guess it all works out in the end!
i agree with that dog up there (which, like G, is why i'm here)...hope all this newly acquired comfort doesn't wear down your edge! (altho', "rosehip" might be interesting...)
You really take the art of "breathing" to new adjectival heights in this particular blog!
Love it.
